Terms & privacy
Terms of service
You prepay credit and get virtual servers with root access. We commit to 99.95% monthly uptime and credit you if we miss it. If credit runs out, servers are suspended, then deleted after 7 days. No contract — you can leave whenever you like.
01The service
AnvilHost provides virtual private servers (VPS) in the regions shown on the pricing page. Each server comes with full root access, a dedicated IPv4 address and the resources of its plan. You are responsible for the software you install and run and for keeping it secure and keeping your own backups. We keep a restricted management key on each server so the console can show its status, reboot it and suspend or resume it; our staff log in only to do work you asked for.
02Your account
Give us a working email address and keep your password and SSH keys safe. You are responsible for everything done with your account and on your servers, including by people you give access to. Tell us straight away through a request if you think your account or a server has been compromised.
03Credit and billing
The service is prepaid. Prices are in euro (EUR) and 1 credit equals €0.01. You pay in cryptocurrency at the live exchange rate shown before you confirm. Each server is charged once a day at one thirtieth of its plan's monthly price, starting on the day we hand it over. Prices are shown on the pricing page; if we change them we tell you at least 14 days ahead and the change applies to charges after that date. Payment network and conversion fees are paid by the sender. If you close your account, we refund unused credit on request, minus the network fee of the refund.
04Suspension and deletion
When your balance reaches zero, your servers are suspended: they go offline but their disks are kept. If you add credit within 7 days, they come back as they were. After 7 days a suspended server is deleted and cannot be recovered. We may also suspend a server without notice if it is being used against these terms or is harming others, and we will tell you why.
05Acceptable use
Do not use the service to send spam, host malware or phishing, attack or scan other systems, run open proxies or relays, mine cryptocurrency, infringe others' rights, or do anything illegal where you or we operate. Do not try to get around suspension or the limits of your plan. If we receive a credible abuse report about your server, we may ask you to fix it and suspend the server if it continues.
06Your data and backups
Your data is yours. We do not read the contents of your servers except when you ask us to or the law requires it. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose; you can copy your data out at any time.
07Our responsibilities
We commit to 99.95% uptime per calendar month for the network, hardware and power behind your server. If a server's monthly uptime falls below that, send a request within 30 days and we add service credit in proportion to the downtime, up to one month of that server's price. Scheduled maintenance announced in advance, events beyond our control, and problems caused by your own software or configuration do not count as downtime. Requests are handled by a person, in order, as quickly as we reasonably can.
08Limitation of liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
09Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we give at least 14 days' notice in the console and by email where available. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, you can close your account and ask for your unused credit back.
Privacy policy
We keep what we need to run your account and your servers, and nothing more. We do not sell it and we do not read the data on your servers.
01What we collect
Your email address, name and a hash of your password; the SSH public keys you add; your credit and payment records (amount, coin, network, transaction ID — never card details); your requests and our replies; and the health readings of your servers (uptime, backup times, open ports, pending updates, disk use, load). Our web logs record IP addresses for security.
02How we use it
To sign you in, build and look after your servers, bill you, answer your requests, send you service notices (low balance, suspension, replies) and keep the service secure. We do not use it for advertising.
03Where it is stored
Account data is stored on our own servers in the United States. Your servers' data stays in the region you chose for them.
04How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is open. After you close it we keep billing records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and delete the rest within 90 days. Web logs are kept for 30 days. Backups are deleted with the server.
05Who we share it with
The payment processor that handles crypto payments, and the infrastructure providers that host the servers, each only as far as needed to do their part. We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it. We never sell personal data.
06Your rights
You can see and correct your account details in the console, and ask through a request for a copy of your data or for its deletion. We answer within 30 days.
07Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the console and by email where available before the change applies.
